* Hey, everyone! I am so sorry that I have been unable to post a Daily Deity for the past two weeks! I have been crazy busy, but that has ended and I can get back to updating normally.

Anyways, let's get on to the subject of the Daily Deity. Today it is Argus. Now, I wanted to do this on the first of June, because June is named after the goddess Juno (who will be the subject tomorrow.) What does that have to do with Argus?

Well, Argus was employed by the Queen of the Gods. He was basically her right hand man.

Argus is a giant. So picture a really huge, tall, and buff guy. Now, add one hundred eyes all over his body. It's these hundred eyes that is the big help to Hera.

His first claim to fame was killing the big mama of monsters herself, Echidna. Argus shows that he's smart amongst giants, since he chooses not to go after Echidna until she's asleep. He then proceeds to beat her about the head. And while that's a bit violent and somewhat cheaty, it's also a very good method in disposing of one of the most dangerous creatures ever.

After his ordeal with Echidna, Argus was employed by Hera in order to watch Io, who Zeus had turned into a cow. Which isn't the smartest move on Zeus, considering that one of Hera's sacred animals is a cow.

Argus does a good job. A really good job. So good of a job that Zeus gets really antsy that he can't... ah, spend time with his "friend" Io.

Zeus's response is to send down his son and herald, Hermes, to take care of the problem. Hermes response being to slay the giant watchman. The most common method is that Hermes lopped off Argus's head.

Hera was so upset over Argus's death that she permanently paid homage to him in the tail feathers of peacocks (also one of her sacred animals), where it is said that she placed the hundred eyes of Argus.
Once again, I am so sorry that I haven't had the chance to update. That shouldn't happen for quite some time, especially not during these summer months.

Hard working doesn't mean everything will go smooth, sadly for Argus...
